Underworld: Awakening [2012]

I haven't seen any movies in the big screen for months and this year, I plan to change that somehow. I started with the 4th installment of the Underworld series, Awakening. It wasn't planned or anything, I just went to the mall and saw it was showing and since I'm a fan of the franchise, might as well see it now than wait for months for the pirated copy.

I don't really know what to expect since I didn't know they made a new one and I haven't been watching trailers in YouTube recently. If you haven't seen the movie yet, I suggest you stay away from this post as I have a tendency of spoiling things, but I will try not to. You have been warned.

It starts off with a brief history so you can catch up. Vampires and lycans have been in a war for centuries, Michael is a hybrid, he and Selene are in love. In present time, or what they presented as present time, the humans are aware of the vampires and lycans existence and they conducted an all-out war against both immortal species. Selene and Michael planned to run and get away from it all when they are caught.

Fast forward to the future and Selene escapes imprisonment and tries to look for Michael. She sees visions from another being which she believed was him. Now this is where things got weird and I'm not going to say why but they really do need to explain how this happened. All I can say is that there will definitely be another Underworld movie in the near future.

It was a good movie, yes, but the story was a bit of a stretch. They could have ended it with the 2nd film or even with Rise of the Lycans, but I guess the franchise is earning millions so they had to make a couple more.
