Never Let Me Go [2010]

I finally gave in and watched Never Let Me Go. I have been putting it off because i thought it was a romantic drama. Well it is dramatic but it's also a sci-fi. I was already halfway into the movie when i decided to Google it. Why? Because i was a bit lost in the story, i had no idea what was going on so i did a background check.

Never Let Me Go is based on a science fiction novel by Kazuo Ishiguro. Clones were created for the purpose of harvesting their vital organs when they come of age. They are called "donors", some become "carers". Carers are clones who take care of donors after an operation since they don't really have any family. A donor usually gets harvested 3 times before their "compeletion" (death). The main character, Kathy, thinks it's best if the donor she cares for are completed on their first or second operation.

There's also a love triangle between Kathy (Carey Mulligan), Ruth (Keira Knightley), and Tommy (Andrew Garfield). Kathy and Tommy have had chemistry since they were kids and Ruth manipulated the latter to be with her.

I have heard this movie is a drama and judging from the graphics and GIFs that i've seen, i was expecting to cry as hard as i cried when i watched The Notebook. The only time tears ever came out from my eyes was when Andrew Garfield screamed and i felt his frustration of falls hope.

All in all it wasn't that bad, i was a bit bored though but not enough to fall asleep or stop the film and delete the file. It's fair to say that i watched this film because of the cast. I just love Keira and i'm a new fan of Carey and Andrew is definitely cute, not my type though.
